Does your heart soar and fill with wonder when a monarch flutters by? Are you concerned about the monarch population or wildlife in general?
Participating in the MLMP makes a difference. It is an exciting way for monarch and nature enthusiasts to contribute basic knowledge about monarch population dynamics and foster monarch and habitat conservation. Help from volunteers across the country gives scientists a bigger and better understanding of the health of the monarch population. Your involvement is the key!
Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP) is a self-paced course to introduce and train community scientists on the basic skills and requirements of participating in the MLMP. During this course, you will learn how to identify all life stages of monarchs, their basic biology and their annual life cycle through breeding, migrating, and overwintering. You will also come away with skills, understanding, and value of contributing to monarch community science through projects like the MLMP. Once completed with this course, you will be able to join community scientists from around the world that are exploring and monitoring their natural surroundings while engaging in real scientific research. Please email info@mlmp.org with questions about setting up your MLMP account or with monitoring related questions.Participants will have access to monthly Q&A sessions with MJV and UW Arboretum staff to ask questions about the course and monitoring protocol.
Certificates of completion can be issued for teachers, Master Naturalists, Master Gardeners, etc. Please email learn@monarchjointventure.org if one is needed.
